Bridport's volunteers marked 75 years in 2024. The department raises most of its budget itself, with help from its Ladies Auxiliary, and answers more medical calls than fires.
2024
The department celebrates its 75th anniversary in June with a party at the station on Crown Point Road: a helicopter, live music, a street dance and fireworks.
2025
110 calls and 1,166 hours of training, including live fire training in a building in town. Tanker 2 gets a 2010 Mack chassis from the town in place of its 1985 Ford. The department says farewell to longtime members Bruce Stocker and Edgar "Bub" Crosby.

Medical calls were well over half of 2025's total: the department gives first response alongside Town Line First Response, Middlebury Regional EMS and Vergennes Rescue. Six fire calls were mutual aid to Addison, Shoreham and Crown Point, New York.

Boundaries and water from VCGI; fire district lines are not town lines, and
village districts and contracted coverage cross them. A town line runs out into
the lake, so the shoreline here is the water drawn over the boundary, not the
boundary itself.
Money
The town gave $30,000 in 2025; members and the Ladies Auxiliary raised another $43,613, 59% of the budget, through the Father's Day barbecue, a poker series, a gun raffle, bingo and donations. A set of turnout gear costs $4,854 and an air pack $12,000; the department replaces about three sets of gear and one air pack a year.

Burning
Vermont requires a Permit to Kindle Fire from the town’s Forest Fire Warden for anything larger than a campfire — except where snow covers the ground at the burn site, or the fire is at least 200 feet from anything that will carry flame. Wardens can suspend burning outright when fire danger is high. Who to ask locally is recorded department by department; where it is blank below, the fire department itself is the place to start.
