History

Williamstown's department is sanctioned by the selectboard and shares the Public Safety Building with the town's FAST Squad, which began answering medical calls in April 2024.

    William Graham, a volunteer since 2008, becomes chief.

    The FAST Squad is established.

  3. 2025

    Calls in the fiscal year to June. Engine 1, built in 1996, returns after a year-long refurbishment by Har-Rob Fire Apparatus, for a little over $300,000 against $800,000 to $1 million for a new truck. Assistant Chief Norwood Southworth retires after 27 years, and Tanker 1 is dedicated to him. Three new firefighters join.

Burning

Vermont requires a Permit to Kindle Fire from the town’s Forest Fire Warden for anything larger than a campfire — except where snow covers the ground at the burn site, or the fire is at least 200 feet from anything that will carry flame.
