Enosburgh's volunteers fight fires and also handle search and rescue, vehicle extrication and medical help for the Enosburgh Ambulance Service. The fleet is ageing, and the department has started replacing it.
2025
138 calls. Rather than wait two to three years for a new truck, the department buys a Ford F550 4x4 pumper that Colchester was retiring: about an 80% match for what it would have ordered, at a saving of about $300,000. The 1995 Engine 2 goes up for sale. Five recruits join, including high school students and transfers from other towns.

Enosburgh in Franklin County. Every fire station in the county is marked —
1 here, 13 in neighbouring towns, which is
who turns out on a mutual aid call.
Boundaries and water from VCGI; fire district lines are not town lines, and
village districts and contracted coverage cross them. A town line runs out into
the lake, so the shoreline here is the water drawn over the boundary, not the
boundary itself.
Working here
Overall numbers are good, but the department is short of people in the daytime. A structure fire can need 20 to 25 people, which is why three, four or five departments often turn up.
Firefighting or a support role: there is something for everyone
Three training evenings a month and a fourth for vehicle and equipment maintenance
The station phone, 933-4345, is answered on Tuesday evenings, 7 to 9
In an emergency dial 911. These are business lines.
Burning
Vermont requires a Permit to Kindle Fire from the town’s Forest Fire Warden for anything larger than a campfire — except where snow covers the ground at the burn site, or the fire is at least 200 feet from anything that will carry flame. Wardens can suspend burning outright when fire danger is high. Who to ask locally is recorded department by department; where it is blank below, the fire department itself is the place to start.

Not recorded yet
Nothing is written up here for burn permits, budget.
Not because it does not exist — because nobody has typed it in. If you know this
department, tell us and it goes on the record with its
source named.
